BMW Key Battery Replacement

Even though your key fob is tough, you’ll almost certainly have to change the BMW key battery at some point during the life of your car. Your BMW key battery is a size CR2032. Remove the key fob cover, carefully remove the old BMW key fob battery, and place the new one in gently. This will have you back on Marietta roads in no time.

How to Be a BMW Key Fob Programmer

If you obtain a new key fob, you’ll need to know how to program the new BMW key. It’s easy!

1. Remove the metal key from the new fob and insert it into the ignition.
2. Turn the key to position one, and then back until you hear a small click each time without turning on the engine. Repeat this move five times fast.
3. Remove the key and place it back in the BMW fob.
4. While holding the unlock button down, press the BMW logo three times. Remove your finger from the unlock button.
5. To complete the programming process, turn on the ignition. Now you’re a BMW key fob programmer!

If you have a backup key fob or you share your car with someone else, you’ll need to sync more than one key fob. Within 30 seconds of programming the first key, repeat the fourth step with the new key.
