What Is Tire Pressure?

If you saw “32 PSI” above and didn’t know what it meant, don’t worry. Your tires have air inside of them, keeping them full enough to drive around Marietta smoothly. The amount of air inside your tires needs to be at a certain level in order to remain full enough to drive. If the air pressure gets too low or too high, the tire will go flat, and it’ll negatively affect the way you drive.

For this reason, you want to make sure that your tire pressure measurements are at the recommended levels. Tire pressure is measured in pounds per square inch (PSI).

How To Check Your BMW X1 Tire Pressure Levels

Your tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) should show a “Low Tire Pressure” warning light on your dashboard if your tire pressure levels are too low or high. If you’re not sure which tires need more air, here’s how to check:

  1. Pull over on a level area, preferably a parking lot where there’s an air hose. You can find these places at a gas station near Johns Creek.
  2. Turn the car off.
  3. Go to the driver’s side tire, remove the cap covering the air valve.
  4. Put your tire pressure gauge on top of the air valve until the white stem of the tire pressure gauge pops out. If you don’t have a tire pressure gauge, you can usually find one at a gas station, or you can purchase one from our parts store.
  5. If the white stem on your tire pressure gauge reads a lower number than your recommended tire pressure amount, use an air hose to fill up the tire levels to the appropriate amount.
  6. Repeat this process for every other tire on your BMW X1.

What Kind Of Tires Does Your BMW X1 Need?

Most BMW X1 models use all-season tires, but it all depends on what year and trim of BMW X1 you drive. Check the sidewall of your tires for the size of your tire. If you can’t see the size on the tire sidewall, check your owner’s manual. For any other questions about BMW X1 tires or other vehicle-related matters, contact our service team at United BMW.
